Dr Loy graduated with Honours from the University of Oxford, and completed his medical training at the University of London. He obtained the Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow in 1999. Apart from ear, nose and throat surgery, he is also a fellowship-trained head & neck surgeon, having done his subspecialty training in head & neck surgery and surgical oncology in the USA. His special interest is in thyroid surgery. He was awarded the Healthcare Humanity Award in 2005 by President SR Nathan for his volunteer medical work, and has received the EXSA Excellent Service Award three times. He is a two-time Singapore 70.3 Ironman finisher, and is married with 2 daughters.
