Dr Alex Ooi is a senior obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre.  He is active in his work and has served on the Mount Elizabeth Hospital Medical Board, contributing to doctor and nurse training and welfare, set up the hospital’s two state-of-the-art minimal invasive surgery (MIS / “key-hole”) operating theatres and teaching locally and overseas.

He lectured and demonstrated total laparoscopic hysterectomy with the harmonic scalpel at Shanghai Fudan University and presented at the Australian Gynecology Congress on the subject of safety in MIS.  He is also visiting MIS consultant to several hospitals in the region.  He works well with other doctors and has actively organized the hospital’s education seminars and teaching workshops.

In management, he obtained a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), been deputy director of Tan Tock Seng Hospital, helped set-up regional hospitals, performed social work e.g. Rotary and other volunteer service & fund-raising activities and was president of Warren and Tanglin Clubs.
