Info

Dr Andrew Choong is a leading vascular, endovascular, venous and aortic surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. He manages the full spectrum of arterial, venous and aortic diseases, with particular expertise in complex aortic surgery, minimally invasive varicose vein treatment, and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) management.

His practice combines advanced open, hybrid and endovascular techniques, including EVAR and TEVAR for aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection repair; carotid artery disease and stroke prevention; peripheral arterial disease revascularisation, limb salvage and chronic wound care; and comprehensive venous disease management. For varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency, he offers modern minimally invasive treatments such as radiofrequency and laser ablation, adhesive (glue) closure, foam sclerotherapy and ambulatory phlebectomy. He also manages complex venous thromboembolism, including DVT thrombolysis and aspiration thrombectomy, as well as dialysis access surgery with arteriovenous fistula and graft creation.

A recognised pioneer in venous care, Dr Choong has performed ClosureFast™ radiofrequency ablation since 2008 and was among the first surgeons in Singapore to adopt VenaSeal™ glue ablation for varicose veins. He has performed more than 5,000 vascular and endovascular procedures to date.

Dr Choong trained in the United Kingdom and Australia, completing advanced vascular fellowships at the Imperial Vascular Unit, St Mary’s Hospital, London, and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He was awarded a PhD by the University of Warwick for research in endovascular innovation. Prior to private practice, he served as Senior Consultant at the National University Heart Centre Singapore and Associate Professor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore, where he helped develop new vascular programmes and trained future specialists. He is the founder of the Asian Aortic & Vascular Centre and a recipient of the Gold Medal from the European Board of Vascular Surgery (FEBVS).
