Background

Dr Chuang Hsuan-Hung graduated with Bachelor of Medicine of Surgery from the National University of Singapore in 1994. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Singapore General Hospital, and subsequently obtained the Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine from the National University of Singapore in 2000. In the same year, he was admitted as Member to both the Royal College of Physicians of United Kingdom and of London.

Following his Cardiology fellowship training at the National Heart Centre of Singapore between 2000 and 2003, Dr Chuang was awarded scholarships from the Ministry of Health of Singapore and the National Heart Centre to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, the number one heart centre in the United States. Over there, he further sub-specialized in heart failure and heart transplant intensive care, genetic heart diseases and sudden cardiac death. He also pursued training in advanced cardiovascular imaging, during which he was involved in the research and development of numerous state-of-art cardiac imaging techniques and their applications in interventional cardiology and stem cell therapy. In 2006, he spent a sabbatical period as a fellow at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, USA for training in cardiac and peripheral CT.

Prior to his appointment as a Consultant Cardiologist and Intensivist at Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Dr Chuang held the post of Consultant Cardiologist at the National Heart Centre of Singapore, and Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore. He has been a lecturer with the American College of Sports Medicine. He was the organizing chairman of the Singapore Cardiac Society Annual Scienti?c Meeting in 2008. He is a committee member of the Singapore Cardiac Society, and of the Chapter of Cardiologists, Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

As recognition for his numerous publications and contributions towards the advancement of cardiovascular care and research, Dr Chuang was admitted as Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, Fellow of the American Heart Association, Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography, and Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He is an active member of numerous international societies, including the Council on Clinical Cardiology and the Council on Cardiovascular Radiology & Intervention, and the Interdisciplinary Working Group on Functional Genomics & Translational Biology in the American Heart Association.
