Training received under Colombo Plan Scholarship in United Kingdom to obtain Diploma in Child Health in London and Membership in the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, with the second year engaged in posting to the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London for general Paediatrics and in Cardiology, before returning to work in the Singapore General Hospital.

This was followed by being appointed to the Planning Committee for the takeover of the British Military Hospital and its conversion to Alexandra Hospital and subsequently became Head of Hospital as well as Head of Department of Paediatrics.

After this, Dr Teoh left for private practice, but continued to serve in various capacities in various institution:

  • Singapore Sports Council for about thirty years from 1972, first three years being Council Member, the rest being Chairman of Advisory Committee of the Sports Medicine Unit and Chairman of the Medical Board.
  • Singapore Medical Council for eighteen years from 1975.
  • Panel under section 84 of the Legal Profession Act from 1987 till presently.
  • Chairman, Advisory Committee on Human Reproduction and Embryology, Ministry of Health (1993 – 1997)
  • Member, Board of Directors, Kandang Kerbau Women and Children’s Hospital (1994 – 2000)
  • Member, Board of Director, National Healthcare Group (2000 – 2009)
  • Member, Specialists Accreditation Board (1998 – 2004)
  • Member, Board of Government, Duke – NUS Graduate Medical School (2005 – present)
