Dr Chin Yung Ka graduated from University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor or Surgery (MBChB) in 2007 and became a Member of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP UK) in 2011. He subsequently obtained specialist accreditation in Gastroenterology and Hepatology from Singapore in 2015 and then completed advanced fellowships in endosonography (EUS) and pancreatology in 2016 from Spain. He also participated in World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) International School of EUS (WISE) for further advanced training on interventional EUS in 2019 from South Korea. He was previously a senior consultant at the department of gastroenterology and hepatology at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). He continues to be a visiting consultant at SGH & NTFGH. Besides managing general gastroenterology conditions, he has special interest in pancreatic disorders mainly in pancreatitis, pancreatic cystic lesion (PCL) and pancreatic cancer. Dr. Chin had been active in research and had published in local and international peer-reviewed journals. His field of interest is mainly on endoscopy, EUS and pancreatic disorders. He received a research grant for assessment of pancreatic cystic lesion with needle-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (nCLE) with results published in a renowned peer-reviewed journal. Besides performing general endoscopy procedures like OGD and colonoscopy, Dr. Chin has proficiency in advanced endoscopy procedures like diagnostic and therapeutic EUS. For example EUS with elastography, fine needle aspiration/biopsy (FNA/B), through the needle biopsy (TTNB) for PCL, celiac plexus neurolysis, cystogastrostomy and biliary drainage. Given his expertise in the EUS, Dr. Chin had been invited to deliver lectures, demonstrator and faculty to EUS workshops which were held locally and in regional countries like Malaysia and Indonesia, to share his knowledge and experience in this field.
