  • Dr Choo is a medical oncologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
  • She subspecialises in gastrointestinal cancers including colorectal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, stomach, oesophageal, anal and neuroendocrine cancers.
  • She is experienced in running clinical trials in gastrointestinal oncology, and dealing with complex gastrointestinal cancers and novel therapeutics.
  • She is a visiting consultant at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) and is an adjunct associate professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School.
  • Dr Choo was a senior consultant, the chief of the gastrointestinal oncology department, and deputy head of the medical oncology division at NCCS. She was also the founding director of the experimental cancer treatment unit and chair of the clinical trials steering committee.
  • Prior to starting private practice, she was an adjunct associate professor at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and co-director of the Comprehensive Liver Cancer Clinic at NCCS.
  • She is a committee member of the Singapore Society of Oncology and past President. She is also a founding member of the SSO-Cancer Immunotherapy Consortium.
  • She is the honorary secretary in the Chapter of Medical Oncology, Academy of Medicine Singapore, and a board member of the Asian Oncology Society.
  • She currently sits in the Singhealth-Ethics Institutional Review board.
  • She is involved in developing guidelines for the treatment of pancreatico-hepatobiliary cancers in Singapore and internationally, and was on the Pan-Asia adapted European Society of Medical Oncology Guidelines on Hepatocellular Carcinoma Committee and the Asia-Pacific Liver Cancer Expert Meeting Consensus Panel.
  • Dr Choo is a faculty member in the gastrointestinal cancer committee of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and member of the Women For Oncology Committee of ESMO and is involved in organising ESMO educational programs for oncologists.
  • She is an expert panel member of HCC CONNECT, which provides educational programmes on liver oncology.
  • She sits on advisory boards of pharmaceutical companies and provides consult on drug development in gastrointestinal cancers.
  • She has published in several journals including the Lancet, Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, Cancer Discovery, Annals of Oncology and Journal of Clinical Oncology.
  • She is also a council member in the Singapore Cancer Society.
