Dr Li Yung Hua graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Medical Faculty in 1989. He completed Basic Surgical training and attained specialist postgraduate qualifications from the UK and Singapore – Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS) and Master of Medicine (MMed) in 1994. He subsequently completed Advanced Specialist training in Orthopaedic in 1998 and furthered his training under a one-year Spine Fellowship training at the University of Virginia under the Singapore Ministry of Health HMDP scholarship from 1998 to 1999.

Prior to entering private practice, Dr Li worked at various hospitals in Singapore.  His last held appointment was as Senior Consultant and Head of Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) Department of Orthopaedic Surgery from 2004 to 2007.  In addition, he was the Director of Spine Injury Program in TTSH. He was also appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and served as a member of the TTSH Medical Board.  He also concurrently served in a variety of committees and held numerous leadership positions at various hospitals and professional organizations.

Dr Li is an experienced orthopaedic and spine surgeon specializing in all aspects of spinal conditions including spinal trauma, deformities, tumours, infections, osteoporotic fractures, and degenerative conditions of the lumbar and cervical spine.  He has specific training in minimally invasive spine surgery and embraces new technology including cervical and lumbar artificial disc replacement, kyphoplasty, pain management, percutaneous disc surgery, motion-sparing spinal surgery etc.

Dr Li is actively engaged in teaching and promoting orthopaedic and spine surgery locally and in the region.  He is frequently invited to speak at conferences and seminars, conduct workshops and perform live-surgery abroad.  He is presently still serving as an instructor and is a faculty member of the Advanced Trauma Life Support course. Dr Li has published many articles in local and international journals. His dedication and contributions have won him numerous awards including NUS Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Awards from 2002 to 2006, EXSA awards 2004 – 2006, NHG Quality Pillar award 2006, Sword-of honour in Medical Officer Cadet Course.

Dr Li Yung Hua is currently a Consultant Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.  He is a Visiting Consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Orthopaedic Department and Changi General Hospital, Orthopaedic Department. He is a member of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association, Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association and AO spine international.
