Dr Lim has more than 25 years of clinical experience. He obtained MBBS (National University of Singapore) and MRCP (UK) and subsequently underwent advanced specialist training in Gastroenterology in National University Hospital, Singapore. He was accredited as a specialist in Gastroenterology by the Specialist Accreditation Board, after which he obtained the Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) and the Fellowship of Academy of Medicine for Gastroenterology.

 

Dr Lim’s area of special interest is advanced endoscopic imaging in the early detection, diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal cancer and pre-cancer. He received the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) award conferred by Ministry of Health for one year of specialized training in advanced endoscopic imaging including endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopic ultrasound guided- fine-needle aspiration and biopsy/injection in Germany at Universitätsmedizin der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz and Technical University of Munich (TUM) University Hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar. In addition, Dr Lim received a scholarship for a clinical attachment at Kyushu University Hospital, Japan, which focused on advanced endoscopic imaging for cancer detection and endoscopic management of gastrointestinal pre-cancer and cancer.

Dr Lim has vast experience in the management of a wide spectrum of gastrointestinal and liver conditions, including GERD, H. pylori infection, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, hepatitis and other liver conditions, as well as cancers of digestive organs. He is proficient in endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration and biopsy (to diagnose and manage conditions such as cancer or diseases of the pancreas, unexplained lymph node enlargement and submucosal tumours of the digestive tract), endoscopic ultrasound guided injection (eg celiac plexus block- injection of drugs into intra-abdominal nerves to relieve pain), capsule endoscopy, balloon enteroscopy (to check the small intestines), gastroscopy, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy and rubber band ligation of hemorrhoids/piles, amongst other procedures.
