Dr. Ng Jing Yu is a fellowship trained Colorectal surgeon with more than 17 years of experience. He is competent in the range of minimally-invasive colorectal procedures, including laparoscopic, robotic assisted and transanal surgery. Outside of this, he possesses extensive experience with laser perianal procedures such as hemorrhoids.

Before joining private practice, Dr. Ng was a Senior Consultant and Assistant Professor in the Division of Colorectal Surgery, National University Hospital (NUH). He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2008 and completed his general surgical training at the Department of Surgery, NUH. He was awarded the MOH Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) award and underwent advanced colorectal training at Sun Yat Sen Cancer Centre, Taiwan (2019-2020), where he trained in both robotic and advanced transanal total mesorectal excision (taTME) surgery. His training has rendered him particularly confident in approaching rectal cancer surgery.

Dr. Ng is passionate about training the next generation of surgeons. He has been awarded the NUHS Teaching Excellence award on multiple occasions as well as the prestigious NUS Teaching Excellence award in 2020. He remains closely involved with undergraduate and postgraduate surgical education and is a lecturer of surgery for both Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS) and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU). Prior to leaving NUH, he was the Associate Program Director of the General Surgery program and also helmed the Colorectal Surgery Fellowship Program. He continues as a visiting consultant to NUH to mentor the next generation of surgeons.

Dr. Ng is active in research. He has published and reviewed numerous papers in peer-reviewed surgical journals over the years. He is also engaged in numerous societies and is an executive committee member of the Singapore Colorectal Society (SCRS). He has organized multiple advanced cadaveric workshops, mentoring younger surgeons in advanced surgical techniques. He is a member of the International Society of Laser Proctology (ISOLP) and the Robotic Surgery Society of Singapore (RS3).
