Dr. Olivia Huang

Dr. Olivia Huang is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist with subspecialty expertise in glaucoma and cataract surgery. She also provides comprehensive eye care for adults and children.

Before entering private practice, Dr. Huang was a Consultant in the Glaucoma Department at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). She also served as Clinical Assistant Professor with Duke-NUS Medical School, Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and Physician Faculty Member for the SNEC Ophthalmology Residency Programme.

Dr. Huang graduated with double honours from the University of New South Wales, Australia, earning dual degrees in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), and Bachelor of Science (Medicine) (BScMed). She completed her specialist ophthalmology residency at SNEC under the internationally accredited SingHealth Ophthalmology Residency Programme and obtained her Master of Medicine from NUS. She was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal for Best Candidate in Cataract and Refractive Ophthalmology during her specialist exit examinations. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS).

Following residency, Dr. Huang completed a two-year advanced glaucoma fellowship at SNEC, where she received extensive training in the full spectrum of glaucoma care, including laser therapy, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), conventional glaucoma surgery and glaucoma drainage device implantation.

Dr. Huang is also an experienced cataract surgeon, offering the full spectrum of modern cataract surgery techniques, including femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). She has extensive experience with premium intraocular lenses, including toric, multifocal and extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) lenses, helping patients achieve the best possible visual outcomes for their lifestyle and individual visual needs.

In addition to glaucoma and cataract care, Dr. Huang provides comprehensive ophthalmology services, managing a wide range of eye conditions including dry eye, blepharitis, diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration, retinal tears, pterygium, chalazion and myopia. She also performs laser treatments, intravitreal injections, pterygium surgery and minor eyelid procedures.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr. Huang has remained actively involved in ophthalmic research and education. She has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals, served as an investigator in national and industry-funded research, and is a regularly invited speaker at local and regional ophthalmology meetings. She has also trained ophthalmologists locally and internationally in advanced glaucoma surgery and cataract techniques. She is also committed to improving eye health through community eye screening and educational initiatives promoting awareness and supporting people living with vision impairment.

Dr. Huang has received numerous awards recognising her contributions to patient care, education, research and leadership, including the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards (Star, Gold and Silver Awards), the SingHealth RISE Outstanding Faculty Award, the SingHealth Inspiring Resident Educator Award, and multiple SingHealth RISE Outstanding Resident Awards. She also received the SingHealth 10-Year Long Service Award in recognition of her commitment to public healthcare.

Dr Huang believes in building long-term partnerships with her patients through compassionate, personalised and evidence-based care. She emphasises clear communication and shared decision-making, helping patients understand their condition and treatment options so they can make confident, informed choices.
