Dr Aaron Poh is a fully accredited General Surgery specialist with the Specialist Accreditation Board and Ministry of Health, with double subspecialties in Colorectal surgery and Trauma surgery. He is currently the Medical Director at Alpine Surgical Practice.

Dr Aaron Poh obtained his M.B.B.S (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) from the National University of Singapore in 2004. He then entered the MOH General Surgical training programme in 2006 and obtained his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (F.R.C.S Edinburgh) in 2015. He was also accepted into the Colorectal Fellowship programme in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, UK in 2014. His special interest is in minimally invasive colorectal cancer surgery and exenterative surgery for advanced cancers.

In clinical practice, Dr Aaron Poh, Singapore colorectal surgeon, has two core beliefs that he has constantly adhered to. Firstly, that each patient is unique because of their medical condition, social & cultural background, and individual beliefs, thus requiring individualised treatments. Secondly, he believes in providing up-to-date evidence- based treatments to patients while balancing against going for new and untested techniques. These beliefs have enabled him to provide safe and good-quality care to his patients.

Associated Treatments

Prior to his private practice, Dr Aaron Poh was a practising Colorectal and Trauma surgeon in Ng Teng Fong and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was also the Associate Consultant in Ng Teng Fong Hospital while spearheading the setting up of Trauma service in the hospital.

Currently practising in Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Dr Aaron Poh performs a range of procedures. The endoscopic procedures that he performs include gastroscopy and colonoscopy, with emphasis on advanced procedures such as complex polyp removal with Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) and colonic stenting. Colonic stenting is particularly advantageous in helping patients with obstructed colon cancers avoid having a permanent stoma.

Special Treatments

The surgical procedures that he performs are largely laparoscopic (minimally invasive keyhole) surgery, and that includes colon cancer surgery, hernia repair surgery and cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal). He also offers multiple proven and up-to-date treatment options for haemorrhoids (piles). He also performs surgery for buttock and anal conditions such as abscesses, anal fistulas and anal fissures. In addition, he performs removal of skin lumps, moles, scars and other suspicious skin lesions.

Publications

Dr Aaron Poh has published research papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented in local and international conferences. He keeps current with monthly subscriptions of scientific journals relevant to his practice and attends at least one international conference a year.
