Background

Dr Tham Seng Choe is a Radiologist practising at Radiologic Clinic in Singapore with a special interest in Musculoskeletal and Sports Imaging. He subspecialises in imaging and interpretation of MRI and CT of the joints and spine, as well as musculoskeletal interventions which include pain management procedures, percutaneous vertebral augmentation and radio frequency ablation of bone tumours such as osteoid osteomas.

Having completed medical school in the National University of Singapore, he had served not only in theradiology departments of most of Singapore’s public and university hospitals, but had also spent some time training within the Orthopedic as well as the Hand Surgery departments in the National University of Singapore. During this time of training. he was awarded the Young Radiologist Award in Singapore.

Besides being a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists in the United Kingdom, he had also trained and worked at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) as a Visiting Specialist.

Aside from imaging joints such as the knee, shoulder, hip, ankle and wrist, he also has a dedicated interest in the research and development of advanced musculoskeletal imaging protocols and techniques such as cartilage imaging, MRI kinematics and quantitative imaging. This is substantially compounded by his experience at the Musculoskeletal Quantitative and Imaging Research Center (MQIR) in UCSF.

He had chapter contributions to a Thieme textbook of MRI and ultrasound imaging, as well as numerous journal articles in various international journals such as Skeletal Radiology and Arthroscopy. He is a member of the Asian Musculoskeletal Society and is also a journal reviewer of Skeletal Radiology.

Concurrently, he also engages in teaching and instruction at meetings, conferences and workshops that includes MRI reading as well as hands-on ultrasound workshops.
