  • Dr Wong is a gastroenterologist at Gleneagles Hospital, Parkway East Hospital, and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore.
  • His specialises in reflux and swallowing disorders, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gut microbiota, chronic constipation and diarrhoea, as well as colon cancer screening.
  • Dr Wong obtained his degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1998 and was in the public sector for 18 years. He is a fellow of both the Academy of Medicine (Singapore) and the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh). Dr Wong is also among a handful of gastroenterologists from Asia to be conferred a fellowship by the American Gastroenterological Association.
  • Dr Wong was awarded an MOH scholarship to pursue subspecialty training at the University of North Carolina Centre for Functional Gastrointestinal and Motility Disorders, US. Upon his return to Singapore, he led the functional gastroenterology service and established novel treatment approaches to IBS. As senior consultant and clinical director of the Gastrointestinal Motility Laboratory, Dr Wong introduced new motility and reflux testing to Singapore, resulting in new insights into the diagnosis and management of oesophageal disorders.
  • He serves as an adjunct associate professor at NUS and visiting consultant at NUH.
  • He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and is regularly invited as faculty to speak and chair sessions at international scientific meetings and workshops. His research has garnered awards and presented and cited at international conferences.
  • Dr Wong sits on international oesophageal and anorectal diagnostic criteria workgroups, medical advisory boards and national committees. He also represents Asia on international committees drafting new guidelines for oesophageal and anorectal disorders.
  • He regularly contributes media articles and shares about gut health on radio and television. He was the president of the IBS Support Group (Singapore) and remains its advisor.
