Dr. Qingyuan Zhuang is a Senior Specialist in Palliative Medicine at OncoCare Cancer Centre, dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals with serious illnesses. With over 15 years of clinical experience, he focuses on managing complex symptoms, improving quality of life, and guiding patients and families through difficult medical decisions. His expertise spans palliative care, family medicine, and oncology, allowing him to support patients across all stages of their illness, from diagnosis to end-of-life care.

Dr. Zhuang obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2009. He completed his Master of Medicine (Family Medicine) in 2015 and passed the Palliative Medicine Specialist Examination in 2019. His commitment to advancing patient care through research and innovation led him to pursue a Master of Clinical Investigation at NUS, which he completed in 2022. In 2024, he was awarded the SingHealth Talent Development Fund to further his expertise in medical informatics with a Master of Biomedical Informatics at NUS.

Before joining OncoCare Cancer Centre, Dr. Zhuang was a Consultant in the Division of Supportive and Palliative Care at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). He worked closely with oncologists, nurses, and allied health professionals to provide holistic and integrated care, ensuring patients received timely symptom management, psychosocial support, and seamless transitions between treatment settings.

Achievements

Beyond his clinical work, Dr Zhuang’s enthusiasm in enhancing accessibility and effectiveness of palliative care delivery is well demonstrated in the several national and institutional initiatives led by him. He served as Chair of the Singapore Hospice Council Palliative National Minimum Dataset and the SingHealth Duke-NUS Supportive and Palliative Care Registry, where he helped shape data-driven approaches to enhance palliative care delivery. He was also Deputy Chair of the NCCS Epic Oncology Steering Committee and Lead of the Data Computational Science Core of NCCS, spearheading efforts to enhance data-driven care in oncology and palliative care.

As an accomplished researcher, Dr. Zhuang has secured research grants and has published in high-impact journals, providing critical insights into care transitions of cancer patients, helping to identify existing gaps in supporting and improving the coordination of cancer care services. His work continues to bridge clinical practice and research, translating data insights into actionable strategies that enhance patient care.

Dr. Zhuang is also deeply involved in medical education and mentorship, serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. His contributions have been recognized with multiple awards, including several SingHealth RISE Awards for Outstanding Resident and Faculty Excellence, as well as the SingHealth Publish Award.
