Dr Lee graduated from the National University of Singapore and completed her training in ophthalmology at the Singapore National Eye Centre. She then underwent fellowship training in Surgical and Medical retina at SNEC as well as at the Lions Eye Institute, Perth, Western Australia. She previously served as the Head of the Surgical Retina department at the Singapore National Eye Centre leading the team that provided the majority of surgical retina coverage in Singapore.

Dr Lee was the first lady ophthalmologist who was elected as President of the Singapore Society of Ophthalmologists in 2013, a position she held for almost 10 years, during which she enabled the set up of the Young Ophthalmologists section and spearheaded the greater involvement of Singapore ophthalmology in the region when she served as a council member with the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) and the ASEAN Ophthalmology Society (AOS). Dr Lee was a member of the executive committee of the College of Ophthalmologists, Academy of Medicine Singapore, with roles as Secretary and then as Vice-President of the College. These culminated in Dr Lee organising the APAO in Singapore in 2017. Dr Lee was additionally appointed to the MOH committee Diabetes Taskforce which was set up to fight Diabetes nationally.

Associated Treatments

She has a special interest in retinal detachment surgery, complications of high myopia, diabetic retinopathy as well as macula surgery. In addition, Dr Lee is a skilled cataract surgeon who is comfortable with the various types of intraocular lens corrections to help patients achieve their desired visual outcomes as well as the surgical skills and experience to manage complex cataract issues including sclera fix IOLs and post cataract surgery complications.

Vitrectomy for the complications of high myopia such as myopic traction maculopathy, myopic macula hole and detachments

Vitrectomy for complex retinal diseases eg traction retinal detachments (TRD), giant retinal tears (GRT), proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR)

Dr Lee has more than 100 publications in peer reviewed journals. Her areas of research include retinal detachments, complications of high myopia, imaging, gene therapy and age related macula degeneration
