Background

Dr Georgette Chan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1996. She trained in General Surgery, having obtained her post-graduate degrees from the National University of Singapore and the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2002.

Her training ground was primarily in Singapore General Hospital from 1996 to 2009, and she has published widely in the field of breast surgery and surgical oncology. In addition, she has done research on cancer prevention at the Cornell Medical Centre and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.

She developed her special interest in advanced breast surgical oncology techniques and has done a year’s fellowship with the well known pioneer in breast surgery, Professor Umberto Veronesi, at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan, Italy in 2006. Her training includes newer aspects of breast surgery such as nipple-sparing mastectomy and intra-operative radiotherapy, breast-conserving cancer surgery and sentinel lymph node biopsies.

Dr Georgette Chan has been in private practice at Mount Elizabeth Hospital since 2010.
